Tribes win the 2023 Galway Blitz

Saturday the 27th of May 2023 saw Galway Softball host their annual Blitz at St. Mary’s College, Galway.

A total of 6 teams took part including 4 from Galway Softball: Tribes, Hookers, Oranmore Orcas and the Humpback Sharks.
From Dublin there was a mixture of Hippetys Softball Club and Renegades Softball Club to form the Hippegades on the day.
A first for Galway Softball was a team from over the Irish Sea in London, the Fuzzy Ducks! The Fuzzy Ducks play in Division 1 of the London League and Division 2 of the National Softball League in the UK.

Thank you so much to the Renegades, Hippetys and Fuzzy Ducks for making it out to west of Ireland for our blitz. We hope you had a wonderful time in Galway and come back again.

With only 6 teams and two groups of 3, to maximise playing time, each team in Group A played the 3 teams in Group B and all 3 teams in Group B played the teams in Group A.
From there, the 3rd place team went into the Spoon Final. 1st & 2nd of Group A played in the Cup Semi Final, Loser drops down into the Plate Final. Same with Group B.
